Activity Description

USAID's Moving Integrated, Quality Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Family Planning and Reproductive Health Services to Scale (MOMENTUM) Tikweze Umoyo Activity (meaning “Let's Raise Health” in Chichewa) supports the Government of Malawi’s efforts to reduce maternal, newborn, and child morbidity and mortality through improved access and enhanced quality of health service delivery in five districts (Chitipa, Karonga, Nkhotakota, Kasungu, and Salima). Similar to the MOMENTUM Tiyeni Activity, the Tikweze Umoyo Activity has a WASH in health care facilities component, as well as a community WASH component. This includes promoting improved governance and systems strengthening; extending access to household sanitation through market based sanitation; rehabilitating water points coupled with strengthening the capacity of water committees; and distributing water treatment supplies during outbreaks of cholera and other infectious diseases.
