H2O Maghreb Project Builds Capacity of Morocco’s Youth in the Water Sector

Morocco’s water supply is under pressure due to increased population, urbanization, economic development, and climate change.  Recognizing water as a national security issue for Morocco and its neighbors, USAID and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) have partnered to use innovation and technology to establish state of the art and sustainable water management practices in Morocco through the H2O Maghreb activity.

Mitigating water scarcity is a national priority in Morocco, where a growing population, rapid urbanization, and developing economy are increasing the country’s demand for water. This webinar will present information on the H2O Maghreb project, a public-private partnership initiative that aims to improve industrial and municipal water management practices in an inclusive and sustainable way.

Middle East Water Security Initiative BAA #3 - Ultra Low Energy Drip Irrigation for MENA Countries

This activity will design and field validate ultra-low pressure drip irrigation systems for the MENA region that will cut pumping energy by 50%, enable drip systems to run on low-pressure municipal water supplies, and facilitate the dissemination of low-cost, solar-powered drip irrigation solutions with up to 40% lower capital costs. The implementer will partner with a private sector partner to mainstream the technology into existing production lines for wider regional dissemination. The target areas are Jordan and Morocco.
