PRO-WASH & SCALE

Practice, Research, and Operations in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene and Strengthening Capacity in Agriculture, Livelihoods, and Environment (PRO-WASH & SCALE) aims to strengthen the design, implementation, and overall effectiveness of key sector-specific interventions in food and nutrition security activities in emergency, early recovery, risk reduction, and resilience settings. PRO-WASH & SCALE collaborates with implementing partners to enhance the impact, sustainability, and scalability of WASH, water resource management, agriculture, natural resource management, and livelihood activities
PRO-WASH & SCALE works alongside practitioners to enhance program design, apply localized knowledge, adopt best practices, document and share lessons learned, and support sustainable stakeholder linkages.
Three core pillars organize this work:
- Capacity Strengthening and Localization—PRO-WASH & SCALE identifies specific implementing partner needs and matches them with relevant resources that are tailored to their context. Capacity building approaches include peer-to-peer learning, just-in-time technical assistance, in-person and remote training, coaching, and mentorships.
- Applied Research, Adaptation, and Knowledge Management—PRO-WASH & SCALE works with implementing partners, research institutions, and local partners to nurture lasting practices of developing, sharing, and applying meaningful analysis and best practices. PRO-WASH & SCALE collaborates with implementing partners to design research and learning agendas, fund research, and capture lessons learned for information sharing.
- Coordination and Collaboration—PRO-WASH & SCALE fosters sustainable connections among practitioners to leverage relationships, best practices, and opportunities for learning, research, and capacity strengthening. PRO-WASH & SCALE works in partnership with global, national, and regional working groups and communities of practice.
