The primary goal of the USAID West Africa Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene Program (WA-WASH) was to increase sustainable access to safe water and sanitation and improve hygiene in West Africa. This four-year (2011-2015) program accomplished its objectives by introducing innovative and low-cost water and sanitation technologies and promoting adequate hygienic behaviors at community level; by developing practical models of sustainable WASH service delivery; by facilitating cooperation and creating synergies between WA-WASH and other relevant USAID/West Africa programs and priorities in the region; by increasing the capacity of national and regional institutions to replicate these approaches and models throughout the region; and by facilitating knowledge sharing among the WA-WASH countries and beyond.
This report summarizes program results from August 2011 to December 2015.
