An Unlikely Pair? Commercial Finance Partnerships for Water and Sanitation

In this webinar, USAID’s WASH-FIN shared its experience and lessons from its multi-year programming in Cambodia, Kenya, the Philippines, Senegal, and Zambia to discuss where commercial finance can play an important role in closing sector financing gaps. Representatives from USAID/Washington, WASH-FIN, water and sanitation service (WSS) providers, and financing partners discussed the relationships facilitated between the perhaps unlikely pairs of financial institutions and WSS providers in Cambodia and Senegal, as well as Results Based Financing, which “sweetened” such partnerships in Kenya and the Philippines. Over two panels in two hours, the webinar presented multiple perspectives and revealed important information for future programming in WASH finance.
