SERVIR Service Planning Toolkit

In 2015, the SERVIR program adopted a Service Planning approach to ensure that its services help developing countries effectively solve challenges related to agriculture, water management, land use and disaster management.

Building on experiences with the new approach, this Service Planning Toolkit is a resource for SERVIR Hubs as they, with their partners, strive to make an impact in designing, delivering and implementing services.

The Intersection of Global Fragility and Climate Risks

States with high exposure to climate hazards face multi-faceted challenges, including physical and livelihood risks for the population that may force states to redirect scarce resources to adaptation or humanitarian response efforts and strain the capacity of states that, in many cases, are still solidifying democratic institutions and mechanisms for meeting public needs.

FARARANO Food for Peace

Fararano is a five-year, USAID Food for Peace Development Food Assistance program whose goal is to reduce food insecurity in 48 communes in three of the most vulnerable regions in Madagascar: Atsinanana, Vatovavy, Fitovinany, and Atsimo Andrefana. The program provides an integrated package of nutrition, agriculture, disaster risk reduction, environment and gender-focused activities to reduce food insecurity in these target areas.

ADRA DRC Jenga Jamaa Final Evaluation, Eastern DRC MYAP

This report is an evaluation of Jenga Jamaa,  a Multi-Year Assistance Program carried out over a three-year period (June 2008–May 2011) and implemented by the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) International. It ipartnered with Africare under a cooperative agreement to reduce food insecurity among vulnerable populations in Fizi and Uvira territories in South Kivu province of the eastern Democratic Republic Congo (DRC).

Water as a Tool for Resilience in Times of Crisis (Live Stream)

About 90 percent of USAID’s water priority countries are conflict-affected or fragile. Last year, over 60 million people around the world were affected by more than 280 natural disasters. Effective water resource management is complex in times of peace and prosperity. Effective water resource management in a time of crisis—whether war or disaster—can mean the difference between building resilience or compounding tragedy.

PIO Grant with UNICEF for WASH Programming for Piura Peru

Conduct Hygiene Promotion sessions for affected populations. Construct family latrines at transitional shelters. Conduct assessment of existing water systems and rehab water treatment systems.
