Assessing Menstrual Health Management in Girls of Pastoralist Communities in Ethiopia’s Remote Southern Nations Nationalities and People Regions

Summary

The USAID Lowland Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene activity conducted the “Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Assessment and Market Analysis in Pastoral Context” to better understand the conditions around menstrual health and hygiene for women and girls in South Omo. This brief explores the findings of that assessment and provides recommendations for continuing to address the challenge menstrual health and hygiene presents to women and girls in pastoral communities, furthering existing barriers to education, employment and income generation, among others.
