International Women's Day 2017: #BeBoldforChange
On March 8, the world will celebrate International Women's Day. This year's theme --- #BeBoldforChange --- aims to spur action toward "a more inclusive, gender equal world," according to the campaign's organizers.
At USAID, gender mainstreaming is integrated into Agency programming across a variety of sectors. Girls' educational potential is unlocked when improved sanitation facilities exist on school grounds; rehabilitated water points reduce the time and distance needed for women to fetch water for their homes, enabling them to consider new livelihood opportunities; and greater women's involvement in water service provision and utility management is proving vital to sustaining the impact of USAID water programming.
