Liberia - US Water Projects Dedicated in 3 Counties

Three USAID-funded water projects, valued at US$29 million, were over the weekend dedicated in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County; Sanniquellie, Nimba County; and Voinjama, Lofa County. Implemented under the Capital Improvement Project, three water treatment facilities in the three provincial cities were restored with safe drinking water for the inhabitants.

USAID Madagascar - Defecating with the Devil: A Malagasy Village's Journey to Better Hygiene

"Convincing people to use a latrine has been very difficult. When people were asked why they defecated in the open air, they told us that keeping feces between four walls was taboo and was attracting the devil,” says Lambo Jean Mahafetsy, a Community Health Agent working with the USAID-funded ASOTRY project implemented by the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA).

News Link and USAID Sustainable Water Partnership (SWP) Microloan Program in Cambodia and SWP will mobilize $4M in microloans to improve water access, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) for 37,000 people in Cambodia’s Stung Chinit watershed. Families will have access to affordable microloans to construct piped water connections and toilets. Each repaid loan empowers another family with access to clean water and sanitation.

USAID KIWASH - Reviving Small Water Schemes Offers Hope for Thousands in Western Kenya

In 2016, the KIWASH project began working in Khwisero to help revive the water scheme once more, this time focusing on strengthening governance, business operations and financial management. KIWASH also invested in infrastructure improvements, including a solar water pump to reduce energy costs, a 50,000-liter water tank, and a new 5.6-kilometer pipeline to reach new areas of the constituency.
