Using Network Analysis for a Local Sanitation Alliance

Rather than just collecting the data and publishing a report, LINC also worked closely with the local learning alliance facilitators to figure out which findings might be most relevant and useful to the local stakeholders in setting up the platform. During the recent learning alliance kick-off, LINC had the opportunity to present these findings back to the stakeholders and support the local facilitators in using the findings to guide the discussion of how best to structure the platform.

Truer Stakeholder Ownership of Data

As part of the USAID-funded Sustainable WASH Systems Learning Partnership, LINC and WaterSHED recently organized a workshop for stakeholders in Cambodia’s rural sanitation and hygiene sector. In contrast to the hundreds of workshops conducted every year in the WASH sector, we took a different approach: instead of participants simply receiving information, we wanted them, as stakeholders, to own the information.

How Network Analysis Can Forge a Stronger Sanitation Sector

Challenges to improving rural sanitation in Cambodia remain immense. New efforts and approaches are needed to achieve the country’s long-term vision for improvements in the sanitation sector, which includes sustainable access to sanitation services for all Cambodians.

As part of the USAID Sustainable WASH Systems (SWS) Learning Partnership, WaterSHED is supporting a locally led and owned approach to increase the sustainability of sanitation and hygiene services in rural Cambodia.

Water Security Planning - SWP Toolkit #3

Water Security Planning is the third in a series of six toolkits from the Sustainable Water Partnership (SWP).  It provides a brief introduction to water security, as well as a detailed walkthrough of SWP’s five-step Water Security Improvement (WSI) process. The toolkit helps users to identify, define, evaluate, and choose water security activities  based on several key areas, such as mitigation of targeted priority water risks, accounting for positive and negative impacts and externalities, socio-economic and environmental impacts, and direct and indirect costs.

CU Boulder to Lead $15.3 Million Initiative for Sustainable Water and Sanitation for Development

The University of Colorado Boulder has been selected by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to lead a $15.3 million effort to better understand how to improve the sustainability of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) interventions in the developing world. Globally, more than 2.4 billion people lack access to improved sanitation facilities, and 660 million people are without access to safe drinking water.

Zambia Integrated Systems Strengthening Project

The Zambia Integrated Systems Strengthening Program (ZISSP) was a four-and-a-half year USAID-funded, Abt Associates-led project which increased the use of quality, high-impact health services through a health systems strengthening approach in Zambia.
