Knowing What You Have: Using an Asset Inventory Tool to Improve Water Services in South Ari Woreda

Increasing water supply coverage requires an accurate assement of existing assets, which in turn enables for realistic budgeting for maintenance of those assets. Data on the status of the assets can also be used as advocacy towards local and regional government for allocating a higher share of the budget to the water sector.

In South Ari woreda in Ethiopia IRC is carrying out these asset inventories together with local government. The work is being done with partners of the IRC Ethiopia country program, the support from the USAID Sustainable WASH Systems (SWS) Learning Parternship, and the USAID Lowland WASH Activity in Ethiopia.
