Glaciers of the Nevado Paca mountain, 17,687 feet above sea level in the upper Rimac watershed, are among the last remaining icy natural reservoirs, as climate change accelerates tropical glacier loss. As these glaciers are lost, NIWS works with public and private partners to conserve and restore other critical ecosystems that serve as natural infrastructure for the country’s water management.
