Women in Ethiopia Take the Lead in Building Improved Toilets

Summary

Sanitation protects everyone’s dignity and especially transforms the lives of women and girls. In places like Halahago in Ethiopia's Somali Region, USAID is helping women like Gudon Mohamed to build improved latrines, ensuring safer and healthier communities. With training and support for local masons and small enterprises, the USAID Climate Resilient Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (CR WASH) project is enabling families to access affordable, safe sanitation solutions. Communities across Ethiopia are embracing better hygiene practices, reducing health risks, and creating a healthier, more resilient future.
