USAID Water and Sanitation Project: Helping Haitian Communities Gain Access to Safe Water

Summary

USAID Water and Sanitation Project is supporting Haitian communities in Haiti to gain access to sustainable water supply services (CTEs) and Sustainable sanitation services. Since 2017, the project has improved local water utilities performance in four cities: Cap-Haitian, Mirebalais, Les Cayes and Jeremie. Now in the third year of Project implementation, some of the most striking results come from the Cap-Haitien and Mirebalais CTEs: providing water six days/week, up from once a week. As the CTEs strengthen services, they build their credibility, attract more customers, and earn more revenue -- establishing the sustainable service cycle that is now even more important for infection prevention and control an economic recovery.
