Webinar – WASH Collaboration: Two Projects, One Result

Since late 2016, the USAID Lowland WASH Activity and the USAID Sustainable WASH Systems Learning Partnership (SWS) have collaborated to improve rural water supplies for pastoralist communities in the drought-prone, lowland regions of Ethiopia. The goals of the two projects vary but are complementary in promoting resilience. SWS emphasizes learning and seeks to identify and test systems-based approaches to address the challenges of sustaining water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) service delivery, while Lowland WASH focuses more on infrastructure and increasing access to improved drinking water supply sources as well as improving water governance.

On Dec. 9, 2020, presenters Petros Birhane and Lemessa Mekonta discussed how the two projects collaborated successfully to advance WASH development in Ethiopia, and how other projects might increase the sustainability and impact of infrastructure-focused support through partnership and learning.
