Pioneering a Systematic Approach to Better Operate and Maintain Rural Water Schemes in Ethiopia’s Remote Afar Region

The USAID Lowland Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene activity introduced a systematic approach for managing assets of woreda-level water management offices in Afar, Ethiopia, and for implementing operations and maintenance practices more effectively using digital technologies and modern tools. This brief provides context for these efforts and points to initial activity results that capacity building would assist with decision-making and preventative operations and maintenance.
