FY 2021: Global Water and Development Report
Summary
Water security, sanitation, and hygiene are critical elements of a healthy, resilient, prosperous, and secure world. This report describes USAID’s work in fiscal year 2021 toward the vision of a water-secure world.
Under the 2017–2022 Global Water Strategy, USAID aimed to reach 15 million people with access to sustainable drinking water services and 8 million with access to sanitation by 2022. We exceeded those goals by 2020 and continued the momentum to reach millions more in 2021, despite the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, worsening climate challenges, and conflicts new and old.
