Early impact and learnings from USHA’s market-based sanitation pilot in Uganda

From April 2018 to July 2019, USAID's Uganda Sanitation for Health Activity (USHA) supported the Ministry of Health’s Environmental Health Department and other stakeholders to develop the National Sanitation Market Guidelines for Basic Sanitation in Uganda (NSMG). The NSMG identifies key barriers and drivers influencing the uptake and provisioning of basic sanitation across 11 customer segments. This Brief documents and draws lessons from the iitiatial phases of implementation of market based sanitation drawing insights from the NSMG.
